My Approach

Children, teens, and young adults are navigating a new world. They face the usuals - navigating peer pressure, comparing themselves, struggling to regulate overwhelming emotions, etc. These concerns are then exacerbated by technology and social media, hectic schedules, and busy families. I aim to help both young people and their families navigate their unique pathways to wellbeing and good mental health. Step by step along your own path, I'll walk with you while you need some support.

As a therapist, I appreciate the resiliency within each child, teen, and young adult I work with. They have many of the qualities to cope with day-to-day life and stressors... it's my role to help identify, celebrate, and strengthen the ones they have and introduce new ones that could help. I use a number of modalities and approaches to work towards our counselling goals, including CBT, DBT, ACT, solution-focused therapy, and mindfulness.

Therapy does not always need to be talk therapy - so much can be learned through the therapeutic use of play! With a client-centered approach, I work with clients to provide a safe, judgement-free space to explore challenges and match coping strategies to the style of the client. Not every strategy works for every person, and that's okay... we'll find what's best for them.

About Me

I attended Memorial University of Newfoundland (MUN) to complete my Bachelor of Science, Psychology Honours degree in 2012. After that I dove into some work experience supporting autistic youth, youth with intellectual disabilities, newcomers to Canada, and women in trades. While continuing my community support roles, I returned to MUN to complete my masters degree in Counselling Psychology.

I'm a member in good standing with Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association as a Canadian Certified Cousellor as well as a Registered Naturotherapist with Academy of Naturopaths and Naturotherapists of Canada

I love learning more and I'm always participating in some type of training - I'm a Certified Clinical Anxiety Treatment Professional, Certified Youth Mental Health Specialist, and have additional certificates in Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST), Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Indigenous Canada training, and Psychological First Aid. I'm currently working on certification for both Certified Autism Spectrum Disorder Clinical Specialist (ASDCS) and ADHD Clinical Services Provider (ADHD-CCSP).

I'm originally from Bay de Verde, currently residing in Paradise with my family. I've got one kiddo, as well as four pets (1 dog, 3 cats). I love to laugh, have backyard fires, and we never miss a race at Eastbound Speedway.
